Our mission is to continue to improve the quality of life and to protect the safety and well being of the citizens and development community of Kearney through proper planning and consistent oversight of high quality residential, commercial and industrial development. The Department consolidates permit services, code enforcement, inspections, planning and zoning in a single department.

The Development Services Department is responsible for current planning, long term planning, zoning compliance and related administrative duties. These functions help to ensure and facilitate high quality and orderly development, the protection of property values and the protection of the public health and general welfare of the community.
