Examining Board for Plumbers

The Board shall meet within 10 days following the appointment of any new member. All meetings are open to the public and notice will be published.
Duties
- The Board is authorized, empowered and directed to prescribe, amend and enforce codes and regulations consistent with the adopted Plumbing Code for the examination of master and journeyman plumbers and specialty plumbers.
- The Board shall set standards for each level of testing, and said standards shall be administered by the City of Kearney.
- The Examining Board for Plumbers shall also serve as the Board of Appeals in making a correct determination of any appeal arising from actions of the Chief Building Official or his/her authorized representative.
Members
View members of the Examining Board for Plumbers. The Board consists of the City Water Quality Coordinator, City plumbing inspector, one journeyman plumber and two master plumbers. Two master and one journeyman plumbers serve a three-year term. City employees shall be at the discretion of the City Manager.
The Chief Building Official shall serve as an ex-officio member of the Board. Three members of the Board shall constitute a quorum. The members shall select a chairman from their own number, but not the Chief Building Official. Such chairman shall hold office until July 31 following, or until his/her successor has been selected annually in August.
Special Membership Requirements
Shall be residents of the City of Kearney or live within the two-mile zoning jurisdiction. The plumbing inspector, journeyman and master plumbers shall be licensed plumbers.
